Avelo Airlines has identified five nonstop destinations for McKinney National Airport (DTX), with service scheduled to begin on November 11, 2026. The carrier will operate flights to Las Vegas, Nevada, and four Florida locations: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa. These inaugural flights will align with the opening of a newly constructed passenger terminal at the airport, which has recently been designated as a commercial service facility.

The airline plans to run flights from DTX on Wednesdays through Mondays. City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox welcomed the announcement, noting that the new service reflects growing demand for convenient air travel in the region. He stated that McKinney is playing an increasingly important role in North Texas as growth continues to reshape the area. Cox added that the carrier’s decision to invest in the airport reinforces McKinney’s position as a destination for residents, businesses, and investment.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy described the airline as the anchor tenant and launch carrier at DTX. He emphasized that the combination of low fares, reliable service, and the convenience of a smaller airport is intended to appeal to North Texas travelers. Levy confirmed that Avelo will base two aircraft at the airport, a move he said demonstrates a long-term commitment to the region. He projected that this investment will create well over 100 new jobs, including positions for pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, baggage handlers, and gate agents. Levy noted that McKinney is one of five national crew bases for the airline.

The launch of flights coincides with the completion of a 46,000-square-foot passenger terminal located at 1910 FM 546 in McKinney. The facility is expected to open to the public in November 2026. The terminal will initially feature four boarding gates, with capacity to expand to six. Amenities include centralized food and beverage concessions, spacious hold rooms, a 980-space public parking lot, and onsite car rental and ground transportation services.

McKinney National Airport Director of Aviation Ken Carley expressed pride in the years of planning and partnership that led to this milestone. He thanked the individuals, partners, and agencies involved in making the terminal and service launch possible. McKinney is located approximately 11 miles south of Anna.

Further details regarding specific flight times, ticket pricing, or additional future destinations were not provided in the announcement.
