Anna ISD trustees will be asked Monday to give the district's virtual school a name and brand, Texas Scholars Academy, according to the agenda posted for their Oct. 19 meeting.

The regular meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the School Trustees Board Room at 151 W. Rosamond Parkway. The agenda was posted Oct. 12.

A tower deal, first behind closed doors

The board is scheduled to start in closed session, where the agenda lists a discussion of a property lease with Diamond Towers V LLC under the open meetings law's real estate exception. Later, in open session, trustees will consider a site marketing agreement with the same company and whether to let Superintendent Toby Tucker negotiate and sign the contract.

The posted agenda does not say which district property is involved, how long the agreement would run or what the district would be paid. No supporting documents for the item had been posted with the agenda as of Tuesday.

Tax levy and annual plans

Trustees will also consider approving the 2026 tax roll and a projected tax levy of $54,084,683.05, figures supplied by the Collin County Tax Assessor-Collector.

Items on the consent agenda include:

  • District and campus improvement plans
  • Update 127 to the district's local policies
  • The instrument the board will use to evaluate the superintendent
  • The monthly check register and budgeted purchases above the superintendent's spending authority

Tucker is set to give updates on construction, teaching and learning, and student services, followed by the monthly financial report. The agenda also sets aside time for recognitions and public comment.

The agenda does not describe the virtual school's grade levels, enrollment or start date.
