A Lopsided Start
Houston established control early, pouring in 28 first-quarter points to set the tone for a decisive home victory. The Cougars (2-0) opened their scoring with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Conner Weigman to Patrick Overmyer, followed swiftly by a Re'Shaun Sanford II rushing score. Makhi Hughes added another short-yardage touchdown, and Amare Thomas caught an 8-yard pass from Weigman to cap the quarter.
Second-Half Surge
Houston continued its offensive rhythm in the second period, adding 21 points through precise passing. Koby Young hauled in two touchdown passes from Weigman, including a 43-yard strike. Keisean Henderson took over at quarterback for the final drives of the half, connecting with John Hebert on a 20-yard touchdown pass.
The third quarter saw Houston extend its lead to 70-0 before Southern managed any response. Henderson rushed for a 54-yard touchdown, and DJ Butler added a 9-yard run. John Hebert contributed another rushing touchdown, pushing the score to 70-0.
Southern finally broke through with a 79-yard pass from Wyatt McCauley to Wydell Clark Jr., though the two-point conversion was blocked, leaving the Jaguars with only 6 points.
