Overmyer scores four times

Four touchdown catches by Patrick Overmyer powered Houston to a 35-16 victory over Kansas State on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Overmyer caught all four of his touchdown passes from Conner Weigman, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns for the visiting Cougars.

Houston scored on its first possession listed in the scoring summary, with Weigman finding Overmyer for a 1-yard touchdown pass and Jonathan Dimas adding the kick for a 7-0 lead. Kansas State answered with Luis Rodriguez’s 29-yard field goal, but the Wildcats did not score again in the first half.

Houston builds its lead

Overmyer’s 2-yard touchdown reception from Weigman made it 14-3 in the second quarter. Makhi Hughes then ran for 13 yards and Dimas converted the kick, giving Houston a 21-3 advantage.

The Cougars extended the margin in the third quarter when Overmyer caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Weigman. Kansas State’s Garrett Oakley responded with a 13-yard touchdown reception from Avery Johnson, but the two-point pass conversion failed. Overmyer added his fourth touchdown, a 2-yard reception from Weigman, and Houston led 35-9 after three quarters.

Kansas State’s final score came in the fourth quarter, when Jaron Tibbs caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Johnson. Rodriguez kicked the extra point for the 35-16 final. The quarter scores were Houston 7, 14, 14 and 0; Kansas State 3, 0, 6 and 7.

Leaders and records

Overmyer finished with eight receptions for 83 yards and four touchdowns. Re'Shaun Sanford II led Houston’s rushing effort with 20 carries for 90 yards. Hughes scored on his 13-yard run.

Johnson completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for Kansas State. Oakley had three receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown, while Rodney Fields Jr. carried 14 times for 46 yards.

The attendance was 51,569. Kansas State is 3-2 after the game, and Houston is 5-1.
