Kirk homer helps Blue Jays beat Astros 3-1 at Daikin Park

Houston's answer

Houston got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning. Peña singled to center, scoring Diaz. On the play, Peña went to second and Smith went to third, cutting Toronto's lead to 3-1.

The Astros did not add another run after that scoring play. Toronto finished with three runs, and Houston finished with one.

Pitching and records

Shane Bieber earned the win for Toronto, improving to 3-2. He pitched 5.2 innings and allowed nine hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out six.

Braydon Fisher recorded his 10th hold after pitching 1.0 inning with one hit allowed, no earned runs, two walks and no strikeouts. Brendon Little earned his first hold with 1.1 innings, no hits, no earned runs, one walk and four strikeouts. Tyler Rogers got his third save with 1.0 inning, no hits, no earned runs, no walks and no strikeouts.

Cristian Javier took the loss for Houston, falling to 1-2. He pitched 6.0 innings and allowed seven hits, three earned runs and no walks with two strikeouts. Tatsuya Imai pitched 3.0 innings for Houston, allowing no hits, no earned runs and no walks while striking out five.

The announced attendance was 22,789. Toronto improved to 53-60, and Houston fell to 58-56.
