Power display defines outcome
Five home runs fueled a decisive offensive surge for the San Diego Padres, who defeated the Houston Astros 7-2 on Monday at Petco Park. The victory improved San Diego’s record to 62-57, while Houston fell to 60-59. The game drew an attendance of 40,160 spectators to the San Diego venue.
Early lead and middle-inning explosion

Houston’s relief efforts included AJ Blubaugh, who pitched two innings, allowing one earned run on two hits with one strikeout, and Bryan King, who contributed one inning of work, giving up two earned runs on two hits while striking out three batters.
