Trammell provides the separation
Three runs came on Trammell’s 388-foot homer to right in the fifth inning, turning a one-run Houston lead into a four-run cushion as the Astros beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Daikin Park.
Altuve also drove in two runs for Houston, which scored twice in the fourth, four times in the fifth and once in the seventh. The game’s only home run was Trammell’s three-run shot.
Astros answer after Toronto ties it
Houston opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth. Diaz singled to left, bringing in Altuve and moving Trammell to second. Smith followed with a single to left, and Trammell scored on a throwing error by left fielder Sánchez as Smith reached second and Diaz reached third.
Toronto pulled even in the top of the fifth. Straw tripled to center to score Giménez, cutting Houston’s lead to 2-1. Straw then scored on a wild pitch by Hayden Wesneski, making it 2-2.
Fifth-inning swing decides it
Houston went back in front in the bottom of the fifth when Altuve reached on an infield single to shortstop, scoring Alvarez and sending Walker to second. Trammell followed with the homer to right, scoring Walker and Altuve ahead of him for a 6-2 Astros lead.
