Houston Astros starter Hayden Wesneski controlled the game from the mound, earning the win with a dominant seven-inning outing. Wesneski allowed just one earned run on six hits while striking out five batters and walking one. He did not allow any runs in the first five innings before giving up a single run in the sixth.
Ronel Blanco provided critical relief support by pitching two scoreless innings to close out the game. Blanco recorded three strikeouts while issuing one walk. Despite his perfect outing, he allowed no hits, which contributed significantly to the team's victory.
For Sacramento, Jack Perkins took the loss after five innings of work. Perkins faced 23 batters, allowing five hits and six earned runs while striking out nine but also walking three. Scott Blewett pitched two-thirds of an inning without allowing a run, striking out two.
Drew Rom gave up three earned runs on five hits in one inning, and Yunior Tur allowed four earned runs on four hits over 2.1 innings.
Offensive Surge
The Astros’ offense exploded for 13 runs, highlighted by five home runs across the lineup. Yordan Alvarez launched a three-run homer to right field in the fifth inning, shifting the momentum firmly in Houston’s favor. Alvarez also scored on Altuve’s single later in the eighth.
Peña was particularly effective, hitting two home runs during the game. His first came in the third inning, a two-run shot to center that extended the lead to 3-0. Peña’s second homer arrived in the eighth inning, a two-run blast to left that pushed the score to 11-2.
