Before Wednesday's rain arrives, Anna residents can do one useful thing that takes little guesswork: check that emergency alerts are going to a phone or email they actually use.
Collin County is included in a National Weather Service flood watch from 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, through 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2. Forecasters expect slow-moving showers and storms to bring 2 to 4 inches of rain across the watch area, with localized totals of 4 to 6 inches.
The concern is flooding from runoff, including creeks, streams, low-lying areas and low-water crossings. These are possible impacts, not a report of flooding already occurring in Anna.
The city's current Everbridge page offers emergency notifications for severe weather, unexpected road closures and other urgent situations. Users can select delivery methods including phone, text and email. The official Fire Department community-resources page also directs residents to Everbridge for alerts.
That local service should complement updated Weather Service forecasts. A flood watch indicates conditions favorable for flooding; any later warning deserves attention to its specific location and instructions.
