Flowers Foods is recalling some Nature's Own Hawaiian Bread sold in Texas because the packaging does not list milk, a major food allergen, as an ingredient.

The recall covers 20-ounce loaves and 40-ounce two-packs that were distributed to stores in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma, according to the company's Oct. 2 recall notice, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration posted. MySA reported that the bread is sold at H-E-B, Walmart and other retailers.

Flowers said it found the problem while reviewing production records. People who are allergic or severely sensitive to milk could have an allergic reaction if they eat the bread. The company said no illnesses or incidents had been reported.

How to check your bread

  • 20-ounce Nature's Own Hawaiian Bread: UPC 0 72250 91662 2, with "Best if used by" dates from Oct. 8 to Oct. 18, 2026, and product codes in these ranges: 0188 262 20:06 to 0188 262 22:05; 0188 265 09:20 to 0188 265 10:30; 0188 267 04:50 to 0188 267 06:00; 0188 270 04:15 to 0188 270 06:05; and 0188 272 17:15 to 0188 272 19:25.
  • 40-ounce Nature's Own Hawaiian Bread two-pack: UPC 0 72250 00683 5. The notice lists no product codes or dates for the two-pack.

The company said the bread should be thrown away or returned to the store where it was bought for a full refund. Its Consumer Relations Center takes calls at 1-866-245-8921 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday, and can also be reached by email through the Flowers Foods website.

MySA said H-E-B and Walmart did not respond to its requests for comment before publication.
